Florida is a mecca for traders, why taxfree Bahamas (50 miles away) is not?

They have unlimited freedom in FL.
Its all depend on what you mean... sunrise, lonly on the beach.... some local fishermans ... and then back in civilization, 3 minutes driving, no nevrotic yraffic, drive enjoy and have your perfect expresso coffe and some friendly smiles... and sunset - feeding fishes with bread crumbles togather with kids .... and then diner in croweded restaurant with excellent food... or at home, grill what you catch... it is differant life, very different.

I'm still not buying it. You have all this in FL. Plus a lot more culture, sports, variety, schools, hospitals, etc. Seriously are you sure you have been to FL? LOL. You basically just described Boca Raton.

I don't think it is practical to have a bunch of other traders as friends, in my case. Matter of fact, I am more of a loner when it comes to my more than full time "hobby". You having a family, spending much time with them, getting normal sleep, sitting and enjoying sunsets with wife and kids-nice life for you but wishing more traders come to live. Me on other hand have no family where I live, weeks work of 80-100 hours, never noticed the sun went down 9 hours ago and the lite is the morning sunrise, no time to go sit watching others do their morning habits, see where I am going? A harsh but true statement is I see other traders as the enemies, I have to compete for prices and quantities, so to tell others how I trade is taking food off the table of a possible future family and families of others. And it is a life I am use to doing, and to come and go as I please, as often as I care to do, being on an island for me be like prison after awhile, even though I mainly stay within 35 miles from where I live. LOL

And when I go on vacations, my intentions are never to met other traders, maybe hedge fund managers or brokers for advise, but never traders. And if I bought a house next to yours, you would never know I was a trader, cause you would tell me what you do for a living and I go rent an office somewhere else so you don't see equipment etc...I would say I was in "Import/Export" of cotton bales. I love trading cotton.

I really never understand the phrase "it is lonely at the top", until I opened businesses, you just can't have friends when you have businesses, people who work for you want to become your best friends and then they become a liability as if they think rules are for others. Trading is same way, we all want to learn the deepest of secrets from others, and the longer you stay active, you can catch gems from others who didn't know what they wrote or said and "spilled the beans".

I was under the impression that few years ago the Bahamas had an agreement with USA of Americans who opened brokerage accounts there?
Dear Handle123, thank you for your post.
I am not sure about agreements, but there was a big scandal with one USA broker who opened a brokerage firm here.
We are now discussing Bahamas vs.Florida and my question is, why till now all succesful traders located in Florida has not relocated in the Bahamas?
And if you was my neigbor I certainly will tell you that we are traders, (as I always did and do), we are devoted, commited, fashinated by this mastery which is bringing unlimited financial freedom while you are evolving to better you.
I will not stoll your systen, not even dicuss that, simply because I can not trust it - it was not developed by me, not tested and when market will hit I will not be able to manage, as Bary Burns explaining very well in one of his courses and as I verified on my own experience.
I am coming from the world described by Leo Melamed un his book 'Escape to the futures", where traders were all one tribe, ane devotion.
And in ten years one of our best experiences was to met our neigvor family, he was trader and having little hedge fund, little aircraft to fly family from Fl here, on weekands, which he puloted. We shared oassion for music and history. And thanks to him landed to the futures. This was great inspiration.

Nooo! This is getting absolutely funny - our last period we spend exactly in Boca Raton. I am glad firtst of all because we have so differant perception of reality and still xommunicating with humor.
So, I ve been in Fl. But have you ever spent one monthe at least in the Bahamas, especially on one of the family usland out of Nassau and Freeport? Then we can speack same kanguage. Forget criteria about hospitals, movie theaters etc - you are elite trader and can private jet or took a first commercial floght. Put on values of love, silence, no rish, your family, you. Kids are more puzzled ta watch fishes in the ocean then to play games etc....

I am happy for your piece of heaven, but obviously not for most people, I like it on a part time but never to live there. I prefer Italy, Spain, Ireland, Southern France and Isle of Mann. I have more of gypsy blood in me, don't like being couped up and being on an island any length of time be like prison to me. And neighbors never know what I do for livings, matter of fact last 20 years, never knew who neighbors were, either too far away as I been living on farms, large ledges off mountain houses or I pull into the garage and cactus have automated water sprinklers, never answer the door-just religious people anyway. I have good friends, they are wise and not live near me, LOL

I demonstrated that you lack
All this has been covered in other threads. Relatively high-earning professionals on the coasts, such as many on this site, pay away well over half their income in taxes -- Federal income tax, state income tax, payroll taxes, property taxes, plus a hundred others. If you and the other lefties want to believe most of your income is an "insanely low" amount, good on ya.

What a neutiful life and nomads sporit! I am happy for you and it is intresting to live without knowing neighbours. We loved Italy too, Belgium and France. But with little children there are mote factors to consider, to grow them free and strong in inner spired, not wipped out by modern world superflui values.
Today the are grown enaugh, so soon the next trip toeards the worldcwill start. But I hope alway to return here... for quiete ocean, fishermens and sunsets.
Thank you Handla123 for sharing your nomad"s roads - this is how we hope our children will spent most of there lifes!
We have very few friends, here, Europe. They are gifts! More difficult for us because when you change country of birth, change social level from where you born, you losing most of them and not having time to socialise make it more difficult. Plus been traders and in past businessoweners - people in civil world has no idea, few are fascinated, many turning angry once you prospect that there is maybe no needs to devoite yourself and your kids to"have a job". And as you said, employees dadly can never be friends, we are not fun of managing orher people, always thinkibg to good about, was to paimful for me each drop of little dishonesties. So trading and legal work ate perfect for us. Hope in future to lanch some non-profit. First for this country
