Fitness causing insomnia

It is hard to stay abnormally built I agree and probably not good for you at all.

My legs are naturally big, my forearms are lighter than I'd like but that was great for swimming and I think helpful in boxing/fights as the serious hits come from the shoulder/body. The rest of the time there is little point in waving crazy heavy arms about.

What important is posture at all times and though it sounds hippy, keeping what you want to look like always there in the back of your mind. I think that really helps somehow though I don't imagine the body is looking at the mental picture and saying right, make it like that.

I went full vegan 2 years ago. I have cheated a handful of times 10 tops. Sleeping improved, taking a dump improved, energy increased, never again had acid reflux. 3 weeks after starting this diet I felt something never knew I had, Inflammation gone. You just feel it. I lost 25-30 lbs from 197 to 167 ... have run several marathons and training for one in Jan. This is my set weight BMI at 25 or Lower. Everyone has something mostly negative to say about it...like dude eat meat blah blah. Never felt better.

I was dedicated veggie (ate eggs and some cheese cheating a few times) for two years because of a girlfriend. Unfortunately, I kept getting colds etc. but I have stayed away from beef almost completely since. I still will demolish a leg of lamb given a chance. Mostly chicken now as not many sheep in Colombia.

Nowadays it seems a lot easier with chia and such to get the micronutrients. A big regret was I nearly started a veggie/vegan takeaway in the 90s in Dublin. Everyone had the same problem, at night after the club you could get french fries and that was it. I reckon barring the usual commercial problems I'd have cleaned up had I switched careers.

I am 302 lbs having come up from 265 ish, that is what I do and feels easy for me. I get heavy (plenty if junk) and use the weight to assist in building muscle. My spine has straightened a little and I'm officially 2 meters dead on now.

I try not to think BMI as I don't believe it is very meaningful. Maybe RFM is better?

I am thinking internal heat could be in large part the issue, I've gained weight and it never gets cold here at night. Tissue repair burns oxygen and that makes extra heat along with fat insulating more. Almost nobody in Medellin has aircon as the climate is always ideal, no need.

I will go out to Santa Elena tonight, that is at the top of the valley rim and it is much colder there. It is where a lot of the exotic flowers you get in the US are grown. A bit of cold might be the thing.
 
Is high altitude a factor? Heart rate , BP, tolerance to new stressful exercise routines can be an issue. Oxygen debt must be repaid after exercise and some are not as efficient recovering.
I am sure many disagree with this concept of oxygen debt.....lucky you. An oximeter alone does not negate the concept.
Time and adaptation alone , along with possibly cutting back a bit on your total output is a long haul solution. Takes time to re acclimate the body to physical stress in mid life. Listen to it.

I have been here for a few years and Medellin is 5000 feet so not high enough to think altitude, Bogota and certainly Quito that would make sense. Everyone feels sick there.

I am in a hotel at the top of the valley tonight, much cooler and I'm feeling good.

I was reading up on it and it seems Mark Wahlberg and others have cryochambers now for post workout :) 150 degrees below for three minutes seems nuts.. nuts which would also be frozen to the bench. However the idea does make sense to me. Sea swimming in the Atlantic (Ireland) we would have very thin wet suits for jellyfish but that was that. You had to really peg it to keep warm but no cramps at all.
