This year for lobster min season we arte takign a 42' hatteras out for three days from the naval base in Key West.....sleeping under the stars,,,,Mahi fishing on way out, shark fishing at night, lobster diving durring the day....and a whole lot of beer consumption....last year we did the mahi thing and it was awesome.....i caught 12 or so.....the bulls are the best.....favorite part though was using a fresh water reel to hook up a 3-5 lb mahi....felt like moby dick

You gotta love it....... I love hitting a school. you cant reel them in quick enough

surfing and fishing. used to travel to cape hatteras every other weekend or so for surfing. not many people, lots of camp grounds. sleeping on the beach was nice - just a pillow, park guards usually will give you a wake up call in person though. hell sleeping on the pavement at our campsite was comfortable after a bunch of beers. only problem is if the wind is not moving the place is a swamp on one side - lots of bugs at night.

bubas bbq :) place to eat.

if youre into surfing the S turns just before town was great, the point can have some nice waves but picky on swells- ive seen manta rays the size of cars jumping out of the water there - and the campgrounds about 5 miles past the point going south are nice. whats nice about cape hatteras for surfing is you have a very narrow point that can pick up a huge range of swells in a 10 mile zone.

i havent been in 8 years - heard its built up some.
