First good experience with power outage in 16 years full time trading

It puzzles me why anyone uses a desktop these days. A laptop has a built-in battery backup system that you can test in about a second. And unless you are on the absolute bleeding edge AMD and Nvidia both make laptop graphics cards that can handle anything you need. Add a phone with a hotspot (also a built-in backup battery) and you're pretty much set for power outages.
If you're using multiple large(r) monitors, doesn't the laptop being front & center kinda get in the way?

But you
I can see that certain setups might not work, although nothing says you need to use the laptop's monitor.
OK, thanks. I wasn't sure whether you could detach the laptop monitor. But did a quick search, and it sounds doable. Also, as you alluded to, some setups may have monitors that are above and clear of the laptop's screen.

Just to clarify a bit, with many cards you can just keep the laptop closed up, using external monitors and keyboard with a dock.

Doh, didn't think about that, lol! Relatively computer/tech-challenged beyond the basics (obviously) -- thanks.

I think OP should buy a Tesla. So next time the power goes out he can drive to the closest library or Starbucks to close the trade.

What if they forgot to plug in the car the night before? Hopeless situation.
