First good experience with power outage in 16 years full time trading

if i were u, i would pray for more outage.
The brand matters a lot less than the age. They don't tell you that (which is a real mystery to me), but both the battery backup-edness AND the circuit protection have *very* limited lifespans, and should be replaced every few years (like, "5 years" max).
Who knows where Li-ion batteries are going -- claims of progress are made regularly, but I haven't seen definitive stats. But circuit protection is generally from sacrificial designs where they are aged during every single moment of being plugged in. (So, an "old" circuit protection device is NO protection device at all.)

lol. I read the title (power outage: 16 years ago) and thought the thread was about the major power outage of 2003 (16 years ago tomorrow). Power went out just after the close if I recall.
I will never forget it. Wife went into labor minutes later and daughter number three was born that evening in the dark.

Nowadays they make modems, routers with their own backup power supply that last 2 - 5 hours.
Thus, if your internet is via a cable or fiber optics line and the power goes out...you'll still have internet if you're on a laptop or something with its own internal power supply.
Its a good plan B just in case something goes wrong with your plan A power supply.
I usually have about 2 - 3 outages per year...reason why I went from 2 desktops to 3 laptops and got myself a router with its own internal backup power supply as a plan B just in case my plan A power supply doesn't kick in.

It puzzles me why anyone uses a desktop these days. A laptop has a built-in battery backup system that you can test in about a second. And unless you are on the absolute bleeding edge AMD and Nvidia both make laptop graphics cards that can handle anything you need. Add a phone with a hotspot (also a built-in backup battery) and you're pretty much set for power outages.
