Firefox vs. Chrome

I use Chrome for regular browsing since it's fast and linked easily with Google's search engine.

For secure transactions, I use IE since some websites have issues recognizing Chrome. Sometimes pages don't load properly or I get strange errors or challenge questions.

Firefox and Safari are okay.

I use both, depending on what I'm doing.

Chrome *is* a faster browser and has a convenient "incognito" mode (i.e. no browsing or form history, no cache) for higher security.

Firefox is my main browser. One main drawback of Chrome is no add-on support. But heck it's only beta, right? There are many, many useful add-ons for Firefox. The one I basically can't live without is AdBlock. If you use Firefox with AdBlock and then try to use Chrome on your usual web sites, the ads will drive you crazy.

But that's only one add-on. There are tons of others and many are quite useful.

Chrome will eventually have add-on support. I'll bet that AdBlock will be one of the first add-ons on Chrome.

The adblocks for chrome don't do it "properly" and the guys at adblock have said they will keep supporting ff but won't be doing chrome. They don't seem fond of google. The beautiful thing about firefox with adblock is how cosmetically perfectly its removed. I like remove-it-permanently too ... gets rid of those nasty "non-adverts" that et and t2w add at the bottom of the pages.

If you want fast then google "firefox nightly" and get ff 3.2a1. Both 3.2 and 3.1 (i think) have private browsing modes.

Chrome has a 1.5% market share.

Even in "incognito" mode...
I'm sure Google stores everthing you do...
Very much especially the details of your pr0n surfing...
And will never erase anything...
Even decades after you are dead.

The only add-ons Chrome will ever have...
Are the ones released by Google.

I think if Google were logging all of your web browsing, people would have noticed and it would have hit the mainstream media by now.

Yeah, especially if you turn off the reporting google isn't such a spy any more. I like it as my backup to firefox now (still wouldnt do without adblock plus, remove it permanently, and tiny menu).

If privacy is a concern google "Iron Browser" ... its a compilation of the google browser source with the reporting hooks removed. I should say that the Iron version of Chrome is my backup to Firefox (I also don't quite trust Google ... anyone that close to the chinese has sus morals).

kiwi_trader,

Be civil and be careful of what you are talking about. If you happen to know some bad Chinese people, that's fine. But don't single out the Chinese as a group of sus morals.

ET is not a place to show your racial bias. Please keep all your bias to yourself.
