Fiorina Hits the Ball out of the park on this one

That was, indeed, a pretty good response. For a second I thought she'd not answer the question on her position, but she did it and shut it down instantly (I've said it before, you can look it up - I am FOR exceptions).

She had to get the little bitch of a reporter to shut up long enough so she could talk... I can't watch TV, can't watch all those commie "reporters" and their free trample fest...

She is formidable and scary smart.

My problem with her is what became of Hewlett Packard.

As a young adult I started out in the satellite assembly, test and launch division of Hughes Aircraft Company (Space and Communications Group) and we were surrounded by millions of dollars of the most sophisticated HP electronic devices ever known to mankind. Spectrum Analyzers (I still worship the 8566B), Synthesizers, Sweepers, Power Meters, Oscillators, Network Analyzers, Logic Analyzers, Attenuators and the venerable HP1000 mainframe computer.

There was no other manufacturer on the planet that even came close in quality and reliability. The gear was orders of magnitude above anything else (except Oscilloscopes, Tektronics always dominated that device). The supremacy of United States space technology from the 50s to the 90s was very significantly enhanced by the existence of HP. Even HP calculators were unsurpassed (to this day I cannot use a non-RPN calculator lol).

Carly destroyed it all. HP became a PC manufacturer and not a very good one. I find it impossible to forgive or to forget it. I could not possibly offer her my vote to run the country.

a lot people in california say the same thing...
I have heard that many times... you explained it better than anyone.
so now one more question if you don't mind ... how do you know it was really her fault?

No, I don't know if it was really her fault.

But I do know that it isn't what Bill Hewlett or Dave Packard would have wanted. They started out building oscillators in a garage. They were RF guys, microwave freaks like me. They would have wanted to continue with radio frequency devices because there is a deep intrinsic beauty to them.

Also to credit your observation there is the fact that everything became digital. An 8566B analyzer was about 60 lbs with 50 or 60 buttons on the front of it. It was all RF internally. The modern Agilent equivalent is a practically empty box that weighs a few pounds. It is all DSP internally with little RF sections at the input and output and only a couple of buttons on the front. You have to wade through menu after menu to get to anything.

I hate the new ones. Ultimately in my career I became the guru in the place sufficiently to demand that I be supplied an old spectrum analyzer of my choice if they wanted me to solve their problems and when the young engineers saw my old finger begin to stab at those old analyzer buttons faster and faster until it was a blur I saw looks on their faces that I won't forget.

But Carly was steering the ship. Her hand was on the tiller when it happened.

How about giving her a little attention and getting rid of this Trump clown? She smacked it out of the ballpark again in the debate, why cant she get up there in the real debate?

Not that i dont like alot of what Fiorina says, but, the only ones who are better than politicians at giving nonsense answers to questions are CEO's, Fiorina ran HPQ into the ground so it shouldnt be surprising she knows how to bullshit with the best of them. If you think that politicians are bad try listening to a conference call some time when a CEO is trying to defend their piss poor performance, lol.
