Finland to experiment with basic income

The idea is to just give everybody including you a montly check, fixed amount, no questions asked, spend it anyway you want, on lobster or ground beef or OTM options, in lieu of narrowly defined means tested benefits which only some receive that can only be used for the things the government has chosen. A hard core right winger capitalist could argue neither is a good idea, but if we are going to give other peoples money away the Milton Friedman everybody gets a check idea is probably preferable due to the fact that it robs the government of it's power to choose how you spend it. At the very least it is more efficient in that money spent on verifying means would be eliminated.

Never presume
I like the idea, more work for those who truly want it or love to do it .
More folks able to purchase.
Want something better you go work and get it , simple as that.
I also dont like the idea of paying for water.
Survival of the fittest , were suppose to be a intelligent civilized people humanity must move forward.
As for these lofty idea's they are not indicative of my support for democrats.
I also love the idea of a star trek replicator so i can have what i want when i want it .
 
For those "survival of the fittest" crowd, I suggest moving to Africa, where there's no fixed regulations that can't be broken and everything and everyone can be bought. Obviously, people like you don't deserve government, regulations, protections and laws. Oh, and don't bring any money with you. If not in this life, surely in the next 10. Good luck!

These certainly appear to be two of its potential advantages.

The potential disadvantages are also not too difficult to see.

The thing that slightly amuses me about this subject, whenever/wherever it's discussed, is that many people instinctively assume it's a "left-wing" idea, whereas in fact it was originally a rather right-wing idea; and the thing that interests me about it is the overwhelming difference of opinion between groups of professional economists, half of whom apparently think it would be inflationary while the other half think it wouldn't be, at all. I have absolutely no view at all on which group is right, and don't pretend to understand economics enough to have an opinion of my own, but that interests me.

I am not saying that everybody can do it, I am just saying that it's ain't a super difficult skill to learn, and if you compare it to physicist'/engineers'/programmers' jobs - this skill is way easier to learn. People don't go to work on WS because not everyone can afford to go to the Ivy League college not everyone has connections.
