Land belongs to He who can Steal it. Castro stole it (the last time, after it had been stolen many times before) so he owns it. So when you are talking about land you make deals with the man that owns it.
 
turn back the clock in time. Kennedy tells Castro, "Get those goddamned Russian missles off your island and we will do business. We can make just as much or more selling to communists as we can buying from capitalists."
