You are so hung up on guns. Your obsession and naiveté is childlike. As if violence begins and ends with guns. As if humans have no agency or self control around guns. If only criminals and cops didn't have guns, there would be no violence.
Again, you’re too simple minded to understand a complication that includes a third factor.
The tension against police is based on aggressive policing. Aggressive policing is needed because police have to use tactics that factor in the probability of guns in every encounter they have. You ignore the problem is a twofold dynamic that will not resolve without stricter gun laws.
Police cannot adopt less aggressive tactics with the availability of guns as they are now. They’ll end up getting killed on routine encounters. That will not change.
On the other hand people will not accept aggressive policing.
There in lies the tension.
You either believe people will be subdued into accepting aggressive policing or that police will adopt less aggressive measures when guns are still easily available. Neither of which will happen.
You look at this stuff and think it’s simple human behavior but it’s all an effect of loose guns in America. Guns makes police adopt aggressive tactics, aggressive tactics cause tension with citizens.
