With the filibuster and 2 republicans parading as democrats we don't really have The Senate.Its is true that democrat mayors and city councils are scared of fights against the police but many republican made state laws protect cops when they do wrong.
The tension between the police and the public is because of the aggressive tactics police are trained to use because they are trained to expect a gun in their encounters.
This happened in NYC. So a cop gets hit in the head with a stick because of "rising tensions" based on aggressive police training tactics. Aside from the attacker trying to win a Darwin Award, could you email these insights to De Blasio and other Democrat mayors and ask for them to stop funding this type of police training?
Chicago, NYC, Portland, Minneapolis, Baltimore...Republicans have no say in these places. If the police are receiving bad training then take responsibility for it.

You are too simpled minded if you believe a lack of guns or police training will stop racist police. Rodney King (one of the most historical incidents of police brutality) happened with batons in a Democrat run city. Rodney King was beaten by racist police.
