Feedback on Dell 3007wfp 30" LCD

I am considering augmenting my 2 21" dell LCD's with the Dell 30" 3007wfp.
I would put it in the middle and then put a 21" on each side in portrait mode.

The resolution is 1600x2560 so I think it would match up ok with my older 21" as they are 1200x1600. I assume the pixel pitch would be the same?

Anyone using this monitor for trading?
 
I looked at that one, but it isn't really any higher rez than my 21", just a widescreen 21" as it is 1920x1200. With this I wouldn't gain any vertical height, just width. Plus I couldn't rotate my 21" on the sides.
I am looking for much more real esatate than I currently have.

I personally do not like to mix combined set-ups with a big variance in resolution. You might want to just go with two 30" side by side ( and I will buy your 21's for $200...:) ).
 
I agree except with this setup there won't be any variance in resolution. The 30" is 2560 x 1600 high. I will rotate my 21" which will give me the same 1600 high. I think they are also very close in pixel pitch as the physical deimensions are very close.

I know that 2 21" rotated would give me 2400 wide by 1600 high, but I think I really like the idea of 2560x1600 thout the break of a bezel in the middle.

I looked at the Apple version of this and it is HUGE!

Isn't anyone using one of these?

Yeah, I've tried out the Apple 30" screen at my friend's house. It's simply amazing! Functionally, the screen's display is about the same as the others on the market, but the design of the case & stand is simply beyond anyone else's. And the built-in firewire hub will be handy as I do a lot of video-editing as well. Gonna get one myself ASAP. :)

You will spend another $300-$400 for a graphics card to run them.

I bought the Dell 24" for $700.00 and have two 19" on both sides, Its great.

I want to provide some information in response to your post from July 30, and to help you through your decision-making process. I did a bit of research and found this on Dell’s website-which you may or may not be aware of.

I also consulted with our product engineers who suggest you confirm your system has the appropriate graphics card to support the monitor before you upgrade to the 3007WFP. And yes, you can use this monitor for trading, video-editing and CAD, etc.
