The source of the chart is the Fed. http://www.federalreserve.gov/releases/h41/Current/

As to what we should be doing? Getting the hell out of the US dollar, for starters.

You have to remember that this is all being done by a bunch of academic megalomaniacs that missed the housing crisis.

Another question one might ask is: how many multi-millionaires have academic credentials? That is, running down the list of the world's wealthiest, how far down the list do you go to find a bunch of people who turned a brilliant academic career into real wealth based on their knowledge of trading or almost anything else for that matter?

There is a saying, those who can do and those who can't teach, but what of those who teach teachers? (Are they named lobbists or union leaders?)

My point precisely. You shouldn't be able to hold a position like Banana Ben's without some real world experience. A whole lot of it.
