So what? Militia members were formed into a local militia from the local population. They had to bring their own guns, and took them home when the militia was disbanded.

That particular group is not, at least insofar as one particular amendment to the Constitution as a whole is concerned. Everyone else, on the other hand, is another matter. And as for their "abiding by the Constitution" as a whole, what I said about being brain dead applies.

How 'bout this has all gone through the courts, and has all been debated countless times, and the bottom line is that the individual has a right to bear arms. The original plan was that the entire, capable population was to be our army, sort of like the Swiss or Israelis, and like Tsing said, they were charged to produce their own weaponry. Just because we have a standing army now, doesn't mean we lose our rights. In fact, it's a better reason to keep the 2nd.
All you have to do is pass an Amendment that overturns the 2nd, and private citizens will have to give up their guns. LOL good luck.
