Fed appeals court panel says most Obamacare subsidies illegal

thanks for answering...

I am not sure I want to try and answer the question... but I will say the first thing we need to do is get rid the IRS...
since they do not abide by the constitution
they are used like a weapon by people within the parties who are not abiding
and the money used to get tax breaks is highly corrupting on the hill.

so for the sake of liberty and abiding by the constitution we should all agree the IRS must be dismantled and their last act should be to store the key on a hard drive.

No, it's been about "Tea Party Principles" and "Abiding by the Constitution", even though no one can agree on what "abiding by the Constitution" means. Hence the need for a certain degree of brain death to "follow" these principles.

and just to be clear I am advocating that the IRS be dismantled through the political process.
As much as it would be fun for everyone to tell the IRS they lost their records. I have not seen any tax protester websites which offer compelling arguments to me that we do not have to pay taxes.
I would sure like to see some winning arguments if there are any.

The good news is that so far Ted Cruz is on the end the IRS team.

If you think but cannot be certain, then how is the TP wannabee supposed to follow this particular dictum? Since you think this list is so straightforward, why not do the digging yourself and explain just what it means? Again, unless one can define what "believe in the people" means, it's just hot air.

I didn't say the entire list was straightforward, did I? Show me where I said that.

Believe in the People probably IS hot air. But it's no different than the mission statement of the democrat party:

"Democrats believe that we're greater together than we are on our own—that this country succeeds when everyone gets a fair shot, when everyone does their fair share, when everyone plays by the same rules."

Sounds like a lot of hot air to me. Great, feel good stuff, but what does that mean? Same as "Believe in the People".

You're the only one who can't seem to agree on it. We all do. And your inability to agree is really just refusal to accept. You're certainly capable, you just don't want to because it's inconvenient. Can lead a horse to water, but can't make him drink. Keep plugging your ears with your fingers yelling "lalalala....can't hear you". It's very effective debate strategy.

"We all"?

Unless you can provide evidence that "everyone" agrees on exactly what the Constitution says and what it means (is every Supreme Court decision unanimous?), then the requirement to "abide" by it is meaningless. If you don't understand that, there's no point in continuing this.

There's no point in continuing it anyway, as you will never admit to a damned thing, regardless of how it is put to you. You have no intention of coming to an agreement on anything here - not one thing - unless it is your view we all agree to. Your intent here is to obfuscate, cloud the issue, point out spelling errors, dodge, and generally troll your way through the forum in an attempt to cause as much displeasure to everyone else as you possibly can.

My guess is you're an old, retired guy, sitting somewhere at home (probably on one of the coasts) with a little smug grin on your face, believing yourself to hold the intellectual high ground on most of these threads. In reality, however, you're probably the guy who people avoid discussions in real life with on any topic that is more complex than the weather or mowing their lawn (if you actually venture outside to socialize, that is - i have my doubts) because any such discussion means you have to be the one who is "in the know", and all of us peasants are lucky to get just a glimpse into that wondrous intellect you wield like a broadsword.

You could be divorced, or gay - though I'm doubting the homosexual angle with you. I'm not sure you have kids - although I suppose it is possible you weren't always like this, so someone was probably at some point convinced to mate with you.

You claim to be neither liberal or conservative (at least that's what I managed to get out of your evading the question on multiple occasions), but that's a complete sham, although it is possible you have such a distorted view (or disgruntled) that you truly believe everyone but you is left/right of center, and you represent the base view of what is "balanced and objective". Your ego is probably colossal, and perhaps impregnable. You are Stone Deaf.

How'd I do? :) Not that I expect you to actually admit any of this.

"...the first thing we need to do is get rid the IRS...

We'll never (at least prior to the next great revolution) get rid of the IRS... too many special interests and tax policy is a matter of force and control.

But can you imagine what would happen to the American economy if we adopted a flat tax? Laffer says "11% on personal income and on corporations" would be about right.... maybe add a consumption tax??

Would not be difficult to implement. Most states already have sales tax... just add another line to the software and collect the tax at point of sale.

Exemptions for low income earners and their cost of basic goods/services could easily be included.

Corporations would have no incentive to hide their profits overseas and would have incentive to do business in America and employ people here.

:(

Flat tax or national sales tax would be awesome. But it would have to be without an income tax (include an abolish the income tax measure), or politicians would eventually just add them on top of each other.

Pros and Cons. If the only tax were a national sales tax, it would have to be so high as to discourage consumption and be a drag on the economy and employment... would be great for building savings and capital though (not that the government wants us to do that, of course).
