I will be using two external screens. My main question is about aspect ratio. Years ago when switching from a square desktop monitor to a rectangular laptop screen I had some programs that didn’t work well with the new aspect ratio. I’m wondering if these new 16:10 screens will cause problems if a program was written for a 16:9

I'll be honest and say that i cant answer that. I use 32'' & 27" Samsung curved monitors. you can change the settings so that the screens fit your aspect. While i have and use a laptop, i never use it to trade from so im probably not the best person to give any advise on that matter.
 
I used 43" Samsung 4k tv($300.00...LOL) with an Nvidia 1050ti and it works great. Never going back to the old ways. Fits four charts, my risk management and risk analysis tools well. what more do you need
 
For home, I’d prefer a bigger screen size like 55 inches or so, whereas, for work, a small size of 14 inches would do me the best.
 
i have 4 monitors... i use a 43" 4K monitor to display 5 charts for the 5 futures that i daytrade plus 5 price ladders... a 24" for the trade manager and alerts. and another 2-24" monitors are just extra.

I use tick charts and they vary each day.
