favorite guitar solos

Any solo by a guy who.....

had a number 1 Worldwide hit in 1965 at 17 years old, "Hang On Sloopy", played, produced and performed with Edgar and Johnny Winter, Grammy winner, appeared on albums by KISS, Weird Al, Barbara Striesand (wow, talk about diversity!), still performing and releasing recordings today (doncha love his Fidelity commercial?), over 40 years in the biz....how many guys can say that?

I'm not sure how much you will get out of it not being a fan, but I LOVED Mindcrime 1 when they did it on the last tour. If they are actually using the actors and stuff they were using last time, I'll probably go again. If the singer happens to be "on", you are in for a real treat. Even if he isn't he sounds good. They put on a good show, they don't just stand up there and play the music.

If you want to go to see some guitar virtuosity, this might not be the show for you. The two current guitar players are average. The one that left a few albums ago was the one to see.

Yeah, Queensryche really went down a couple of notches when Chris DeGarmo left the band....

Personally, I'm a big fan of their "Empire" album which I consider them at their peak. It is just loaded with terrific solos. Check out their lesser-known songs at that album, i.e. Resistance and One and Only. Definitely worth a listen...

blackguard, the original version of Crying in the Rain was from the album Saints & Sinners released in '82. I don't have that album, but according to online research Sykes did not play on that album; the guitarists were Bernie Marsden and Micky Moody.

The song was revamped and re-recorded for their smash 1987 album, titled simply Whitesnake, on which Sykes played.

So which album are you talking about? I'd like to know as I plan to download the song....
