Having grown up on Rush, i'm a big fan of Alex Lifeson.
Especially the hemispheres, permanent waves, moving pictures era.
He's got a really interesting and unique guitar style.

slaughter- up all night sleep all day
white lion- wait
whitesnake- is this love, still of the night, crying in the rain
great white- rock me, save all your love, house of broken love
la guns- kiss my love goodbye

there are many others...

I've been listening to some of this music recently and I would have to conclude the best solo of all is John Sykes in Crying in the Rain by Whitesnake.
