Fatal shooting in Denver, probably self defense

Wow again...

Didn't see the video.

The people in an altercation with the interracial black guy...one of the people approaching that black guy with a mace can then walks away a few feet because someone else(not in the video) caught his attention and then seconds later we can hear what sounds like something being sprayed and suddenly there's a single gun shot.

That guy with the mace can was probably shot dead (head shot) before he hit the ground considering the way he drop to his back and his arms out to his sides (not shown in the video) but shown in another photograph...most likely the same media (ones that took the photograph) that hire the armed security patrol (shooter).

Yeah, the police was not there and was quickly securing / arresting the shooter. That implies they were less than a block away and saw these altercations.
  • I wonder if the police knew the media had armed security patrol too. If the police didn't know...they know now.
Police with guns, media security patrol with guns and some members of both sides of the protest groups with guns....

Clusterfuck with a high probability of someone getting shot.

3rd vid, LEO w/in earshot of the rabble

I'll stop using the dailymail for any type of sourcing (the OP). Would things have been any different if the shooter was BLM? This shooting is a mirror of the incident in Portland where another dude working security shot a macer.

new details indicate the shooter was not BLM anything, just neaby a hostile BLM/anti-protest interaction

This is a very different situation than the shooting in Portland by Michael Reinoehl, a self-described antifa supporter of Aaron "Jay" Danielson, at Patriot Prayer rally organized to support Trump. The arrest warrant state there is video showing Michael Reinoehl hid in an alcove as Danielson walks by, then pursuing him. As outlined in the arrest warrant Michael Reinoeh was the aggressor. The actions of Michael Reinoeh are straight-up murder as outlined in the court papers.

The situation in Denver involved a armed security guard hired from a reputable agency (Pinkerton) as a contractor to protect a press member covering the protests. I should note that most legitimate media outlets are now hiring contract security guards to protect their reporters and camera people at protests now.

The "before" video shows the "Patriot Muster" supporter attempted to pick a fight with a rambunctious counter-protestor while others attempt to hold him back. The "Patriot Muster" supporter then walks over to the security guard and starts hitting him (see photo below) knocking off the security guard's hat and glasses probably assuming the security guard was a counter protestor. The security guard backs up attempting to deescalate the confrontation. At this point the armed "Patriot Muster" supporter starts spraying the security guard with bear spray and aggressively charging him. At this point the security guard shoots the "Patriot Muster" supporter.

There is plenty of video and photos showing these events which occurred in daytime. Most of it taken by local media outlets.

In my opinion the actions of the armed security guard in Denver is self-defense. However we will see what the judicial system in Colorado does with this case --- and I am certainly willing to alter my opinion if further information comes out.

It is self-defense.

That bear spray can be dangerous. It and pepper spray have been known to cause casualties when excessively used against someone.

Regardless, that armed security patrol for the media should be wearing identifiable vests that they're with the media and stated they're armed.

it's being investigated as homicide. Portland dude was "security" just as Pinkerton dude. Video shows none of the "stalking" the charges allege, what it does show is righty macing in his direction and guy pulling the trigger, just as in this case, but we will never know since dude was murdered in cold blood on presidential orders and never had the opportunity to dispute said charges.

that's painting a traget on themselves

Wow...

Didn't know it had gotten so bad for the media (e.g. reporters / news agencies) that they now hire their own "armed security patrol" when covering protests.

That makes me wonder considering the nature of the photography that quickly were posted online about the shooting...
  • Was the photographer that took this photograph (below) the one being protected ?
Also, why aren't these "armed security patrol" wearing very clear identification vests that they're with (protecting) the media so that the protestors know not to harass them and so that the police know they're with the media ?
  • I bet that's why the police didn't fire upon the "armed security patrol" because the media was right their yelling he's a member of our armed security patrol.
Seems to me to be a clusterfuck that invites idiots to aim their anger at others while the idiots do not know those people are only their to protect the media.

Some feedback on armed security for the press and the police at protests.

The reason that armed security does not wear uniforms, vests or identification is because it makes them look similar to police officers and makes them targets of ANTIFA protestors. The intent is that armed security protecting the press at protests should wear clothes that make them look inconspicuous.

Also keep in mind that ANTIFA protestors have been attacking and harassing the press. In Raleigh (and other cities) they block the press from taking video by rushing media members with umbrellas and throwing objects at them. This can be seen in the coverage of the recent nighttime ANTIFA riot in Raleigh.

This is also a good time to make a point about legitimate press versus ANTIFA rioters wearing press vests pretending to be innocent press members and then throwing objects at the police. The entire intent of the ANTIFA protestors, of course, is to undermine the legitimate press so the police will not trust anyone with press credentials.

The next point is the purpose of armed private security contracted to protest press members. Their job includes:
  • Advising the press members on properly complying with police instructions.
  • Advising the press members on when a situation is becoming too dangerous and they should back away in order to get their coverage. (The recent Raleigh protests had a live-clip of a security contractor telling the reporter this).
  • Protect the press members from physical harm by acting to defend them from violence.
In many cities the private armed security hiring to protect the press are known to the police. In Raleigh the police brief the armed security contractors prior protests to provide guidance.

Legitimate press members follow police instructions. Most legitimate press members are already known to the police. Most legitimate press members now have contract security when covering protests to protect them from violent protestors (either right or left).

ANTIFA members pretending to be press do not follow police instructions. They throw objects at police while wearing "press" vests and then feign outrage when they are arrested. They don't belong to mainstream media outlets but to some nonsensical "media outlet". Of course, ANTIFA members pretending to be press do not hire trained security guards as contractors to protect them.

As an additional note.... most media outlets now serve their photos and video immediately to the cloud when it is taken. In event if a reporter is arrested and their equipment is taken away then the newsroom can still immediately take their coverage and use it -- without the risk of the police either deleting photos or holding on to the equipment.

it's actually righties who've been targeting the press as is evidenced by police abuses in countless videos.

The arrest warrant and video clearly show the stalking.

Which recognized security firm did Michael Reinoehl or Aaron "Jay" Danielson work for in Portland?

You are spouting pure nonsense which has gone beyond the bounds of basic rationality regarding the facts.

where is said video? All we got are screen grabs of patriot prayer dude w/an exposed baton and bear mace and Reinoehl in the vicinity

Did Reinoehl say or did not say he was working security in the Vice interview?
