fat finger error?any recipe

today I made a fat finger mistake. I did not check how many lot I buy, then bought too much on the ask (way high). big size on a wrong ask (wide spread). that is option. man, instantly red $1k+. justfeel odd why I am red, then "shit, I buy on the ask"


I am in a hurry to fill the order.
 
it seems at one time, I just can focus on one thing! when I focuson the trade, then forget to check order number/type/price.

that made me looklike an idiot!
 
Everyone's done it, it's just a mistake, doesn't make you look like an idiot. I was planning to buy 5 option contracts once and almost bought 1000 because I'd been day trading the underlying for a long time, trading 1000 shares a pop, and forgot to change the Qty field from 1000 to 5 :eek:

if you trade thru IB-there is a lot of pre cautionary settings in TWS. by size,by sum,by % away ..and so on.learn how to use them.
