Good job! I think you are ready to step up to the plate and so some serious SIZE.
I'm not sure if you're really "serious" about that :D But, don't worry, as soon as I'm ready, I will be doing some serious size. That's the plan

I understand, now, and Eurex could well be a better trading vehicle for ye. It would remove the '3D constraints' dat trading US mkts (during yr working hours) are imposing on ye. Actually, all mkts are de same = if ye can profitably trade one of em (using whatever method works for de individual), then it's possibull to trade any of em ;-)

Looking fwd to seeing ye make it as a trader - yr off to a good start :)

Success!

I remember gruff stating (in one of his other names) that he once had the same professor as Geo. Dubya Bush.

I'm willing to bet the farm that Gruff and Dubya shared the same English professor.

Fast Trader, good luck in the markets, I trade European all the time, can be quite challenging.

gruff, thanks for your feedback.

I'm looking into Eurex because I have time in the morning to trade, and one of my problems right now is my schedule limits my trading in the US markets. Since Eurex opens much earlier, I will have more time to trade it and I think this may be beneficial. The same rules and methods that I apply to ES/NQ for trading apply to Eurex. They're not much different; technically.

We'll see how this goes. Enjoy the show :)

Trading Eurex is a good choice, IMO. I now trade the Eurex futures almost exclusively. I'm in California, so the trading "day" starts for me at 12 midnight. I find that the ESTX-50 and the DAX present more opportunity intraday than ES and the commissions that my broker charges are almost half what I pay for a round turn of ES. Also, I find that I like Eurex best before the US markets open. Don't ask me why. Just one last piece of advice though: Trade ESTX50 first before you trade DAX. DAX moves very fast and has a much higher contract valuation so you can make and lose $$ very fast. Good luck, and congratulations on creating one of the best journals here on ET in a long time.

P L J, I paper-traded the DAX on Friday. I think I had 1 loser and 3 winners netting 20+ points overall. But I agree, it moves fast so I will be sticking with the ESTX50 in the beginning and try the DAX later on.

Fast,

Thanks for your journal.

I am also thinking about looking at ESTX50 but it is not offered on Tradestation. What charting & broker do you use? Any observerations as you learn more about Eurex would be appreciated.

Thanks again,
Mike

Mike, I use eSignal for charting and trade through Interactive Brokers using their TWS platform.

I will post any useful information on ESTX50 and DAX here; as I find it. This was my 2nd day trading the European futures which do behave differently compared to ES/NQ. I'll need a few days to get a better understanding of these instruments.

October 27th (Monday)

Followed Trading Plan:
4stars.gif

Total trades: 2 (2 Shorts) 2 Winners, 0 Losers

5:44 AM - Short 1 ESTX50 2510
5:58 AM - Cover 1 ESTX50 2508
Result: +2

10:13 AM - Short 1 ESTX50 2529
10:18 AM - Cover 1 ESTX50 2525
Result: +4
Notes: This was a decent entry (High-Of-Day = 2530), but the exit could have been much better. You're all probably tired of hearing this, but I did have to leave for work, and I don't feel comfortable just placing a stop and leaving the PC. I like to be FLAT when I leave for work, so I exited. Price dropped to 2510 later in the morning so I left 15 pts on the table.

Overall:
ESTX50: +6

Today was my 2nd day trading the European futures. Here's what I've learned so far: when trading ESTX50, go with the 10 min. trend. I dont think it's wise to play counter-trend moves since they are very short lived. Counter-trend trades work better on ES, and I think would do OK on DAX as well.

Quote from Mr. Bollinger:

Hey Fast_Trader,

Have you ever considered tick charts?
I use a 100-Tick chart for entry on ES and NQ. 50-tick chart for entry on ESTX50 and DAX. 30-Tick chart for entry on YM.
