They've talked about how news has a flow and they are high in the chain of that flow.
Yes, I have heard that too. Unfortunately, I don't know how either. I know some prop firms get news faster (less delayed) than retail. I noticed some news on TOS is delayed more than on Briefing, fo example. Definitely an edge there, but don't know if retail can get it.

Funny story ... I was attending trading chat room where everyone was asking what the trader thinks of set up. One user asks about some blue chip stock. The trader says - why would you even consider it, obviously going nowhere! Two minutes later the stock jumps on news like 5%. It's out there! If you find it, pm me :)

Good thread, haven't looked at some of these and might be able to cut my costs.

(I don't news trade much but I hate not understanding why a major move is happening, as it influences whether it's something that might continue the whole day and beyond, versus reversing in the next minute.)

Aggregators are less expensive for a reason. They pretty much aren't worth more than just having Bloomberg TV on and almost every cable network has them as an option. The specialists have primary news sources - MMs have primary news sources - pretty much every institutional desk/trader. I get they're expensive and the typical investor can't afford them - just understand timely information is everything. Aggregators do a decent post mortem.

So I'm assuming by going the BB terminal or TR Eikon path, that I will be able to do what I'm looking to do. Right? Or what are you specifically referring to when you say primary news sources? Thanks for your reply!

Based on your explanation a normalized news feed is not what you need. I would for your case RECOMMEND Dow Jones news wires, 100-200 dollars per month and you get everything. Check out Newsware through which you can subscribe to any news feed of your liking and can set up filters, custom searches to a degree of detail you won't get with most of the other mentioned platforms.

I'm looking to take action and make trades based on news flow and headlines. I'm looking to do short/quick trades, get in as the move begins to happen and get out very quickly after for a quick scalp.

With the services I initially mentioned I am able to do this as one service will report headline X, then I get in, then another service will report on headline X and I know another wave of traders will be coming in behind me. Once the price action pops I exit.

In my original post I was trying to find out/ask if there was a single service that was constantly faster than the others. That way I could avoid listening to multiple squawks at the same time, and since I am not a professional I was wondering what services the pros do use. As you pointed out, the news will beat the squawks and those three news services do seem to be what I am kinda looking for. I can afford a BB terminal or eikon, but don't know if I were to go that route if I would be able to do what I am even trying to do as I've not used them before.

I do know I will be slower than an algo, but in my experience I am still able to profit, plus by doing it manually I feel as I am better able to adjust entry/exit strategy by interpreting the news with a brain (as we know how algos aren't always great at that).

I'm hoping that provides you with the detail you need to recommend something.

Glad you figured out how far down the chain retail is.

My point here is, there are shades between the best and the worst. As a matter of fact, nobody gets news faster from specific outlets such as government organizations, eg, department of labor. They are disseminated at the exact same time to the few chosen wires.

From there it app depends how much you pay. You can pay the same as hedge funds and get a normalized feed. Or pay full bbg, refinitiv, DJ and get what you pay for. Or you can go cheap and get a POS latency and delay or even complete omission of news from your broker who throws in a few extra "features" to bait tue crowd. But i would not base my career on such low quality products.

For that Twitter is your best friend. Spend some time and assemble a list of outlets you trust and you get a premium news feed of sorts, at least regarding large event news. You won't get any of that from regular wires. They are in the business of news dissemination. They are very slow in the area of news interpretation.
