Fascists retake Italy

OK, I'm speaking as an Englishman and obviously the UK has in the last couple of years exited from the EU. the new Italian leader seems keen for her country to do likewise.

Leaving the EU is regarded by some US commentators and politicians as an insane example of extreme self-harm. But I wonder how US citizens would feel if they were members of an EU-style institution encompassing all the countries of North and South America.

Would US commentators really feel it acceptable that Chilean politicians should get a say in how many hours a a week US citizens work in the US?

inb4: "she's no fascist, you don't know what a fascist is"

Meloni’s enemies list is familiar: “LGBT lobbies” that are out to harm women and the family by destroying “gender identity”; George Soros, an international speculator,” she has said, who finances global “mass immigration” that threatens a Great Replacement of white, native-born Italians. Meloni shows affinity for authoritarian strongmen: Like Marine Le Pen, until recently the leader of the National Rally party in France, Meloni has expressed support for Russian President Vladimir Putin—although she has muted that enthusiasm since his invasion of Ukraine.

how original

Yes, Italy's new prime minister is really a fascist: The old-fashioned kind
Giorgia Meloni's entire career has been on the far-right fringe, surrounded by Mussolini's political heirs.

It's not your business how and whom other countries elect their own leaders.
As an alleged democrat (fu! :D) you have to respect the will (self determination etc.) of the people...
Or are you an anti-democrat? :-) ROTFL!
