They only get paid for the order when they deliver the doses. It's not like they were paid in advance.

I will note that the demand for the Pfizer vaccine world-wide greatly outstrips the supply. It's not like Pfizer really needed the U.S. order.

Vaccine will not be available to the general public until easily March or April so about a year from when it was proclaimed to be for everyone. Right now all the doses going to medical staff and highest at risk people. With the need for 2 doses it adds more time needed to get all the doses out to the general public enough to make a large dent....just simple logistics and large numbers, no one's fault.

Big pharma got this vaccine out much quicker thanks to shorter trial times and hyper speed approvals. Tough times necesitate such actions.

But let's not forget that $$$$$$ and a captive purchasing market for the next year was the real motivator. Pfizer and all those companies know they will sell this vaccine in millions of doses at a time for the next year. $$ I would drop everyting and speed up production of that.
