I'm trying to figure out the motivation for a company to do a special dividend.
I'll have more of diluted shares because of DRIP,
which I'm in,
or I'd get a check if not in DRIP.
What is the meaning of what a company does with excess cash?
I've heard criticism of share buy backs,
"That's the best thing they can think of?
Aren't there any M&A opportunities?""
I've heard criticism of dividends.
"That money should go to research, modernization, etc..."
I think I'm too simple minded for this type of thing.
Or maybe I need that second cup of coffee...
Oh gosh, I didn't think I was making an argument.
If that's what you got out of my post,
I worded it poorly.
Like I said, it's early.
Cut a brother a break.
