Extract your own DNA

Now the question is, can you sequence your own DNA. What is funny is, even though I am Computer Scientist, and this question should be easier for me to figure out than actually getting my own DNA, I don't know how to do it!

I think it would be cool to do a Parallela project to sequence your own DNA:

I submitted my DNA to 23andme.com a while back and got the full report back on all my traits, disease predispositions, family history, etc. It was really interesting for sure, and I recommend that everybody do it if for no other reason that to help scientific research and learn some things about yourself that you probably never knew.

Can't do the disease profiling anymore. The best you can get is the heritage knowledge, until the FDA releases the restriction on DNA disease profiling.

I wish you could.

When I log in, mine still shows me all the diseases and health problems I'm at higher risk for:

must look to insure the methodology is sound, and within tolerances

a bet, is it a good bet? your at risk for 'everything' (although only 8 disease syndromes)baron :)that alone makes me susp2ct
