People have been talking about the phenomenon for months now, mostly in the context of the reduction in the 'Average Weekly Hours' figure that's published by the BLS.
it depends. if you have a part time job they will not let you sign on unless it is less that about £180 a month. in which case for every £1 you earn they subtract it from your benefit payment. it is not a good incentive for people with low benefit to work part time. (the £180 assumes minimum jsa).
the employment figures are misleading look at incapacity. they urge people to go onto it to make the unemployment figures seem less bad.
