me:"I trade stocks and try to make a profit"

person:"so you are a stock broker"

me:"No, I do not contact customers and give stock advice or actually buy or sell stocks for others"

person:"so you trade your own money then?"

me:"Yes and I no. I trade my money the firm's capital but I always have a stake of my own my money invested too"

person:"where does the capital come from?"

lol sorry for the poor mock convo but how do you prop guys even explain what you actually do for a living?
 
well i'm not a prop trader but from what you have above i'll take a guess:

i trade stocks for profit with proprietary leverage from my firm. they loan me money to trade.

what more is there?
