Excel vs TradeStation

I use a competitor spreadsheet but I'm thinking of switching to Excel because of the gazillion add-ons that are offered to Excel (exclusively, sad to say).

Anyway, I'm sure TS is a fine if somewhat overpriced specialized app. But for the price of TS, I can buy Excel plus the advanced Solver add-on that would allow me to do global optimization -- on anything, not just trade equity.

I wonder if TS will offer universal global optimization before the end of this century. :D

btw...have you heard anything about Evolver, genetic optimizer?

I've heard of it but I'm more inclined to go with the Premium Solver.

Hmm. Maybe I'll do more comparison first. :)
