Excel shutting down with IB API

Quote from moneyfool:

All, are any of you experiencing problems with IB DDE using excel 2007 in combination with winXP

refresh is catastrophic!!
Could you be more specific ?
In what way ?

IB doesn't actually shut down. The IB software continues running but Excel shuts down at almost exactly 1:15 PM CT every day. I then go to click on the worksheet to start it again. It never saves the changes before it shuts down. Very mysterious.
Do you have autorecover set to "on" ?
If not you should. Any crashes should be "caught" by Excel and you should be prompted to restore from a recovery file upon the next start-up of Excel.

I tried it with 2007 and it was really bad. Reverted back to 2003 and it works fine. My Excel still shuts down at 1:15 every day though.

Autorecovery is on and is set to 10 mins. When excel shuts down, it just completely shuts off as if I killed process. Strange.

After all of this discussion, I've come up with one conclusion:
BAD DATA FROM IB.
To debug this, you'll need another DDE client program to be built written in C/C++. With use of Variants and adequate traps, you'll discover the root cause of the problem.

Good luck with IB tech support
(you're gonna need it.....)
