Excel and Genesis

Hey guys. I am very new to the automation world and am wondering if anyone out there is trading through genesis and using excel?

I think this would be the easiest way for me to get started.

Does excel work well with genesis?

I think the best would be if I new C++ but I am probably a few years away from that.
 
Here's the deal: they have a 5 year old piece of software written using COM or COM+. I had it working very well with Excel. Unfortunately it was not stable....it would crash randomly during the day.....but always in the same offset of the main DLL that was running. I showed it to Genesis tech support, but they would not fix it. Instead, they told me to write my own interface to Excel, but then I discovered their API Stop order methods weren't working properly, so I gave up entirely on Genesis.
