The Village of Sherman Oaks. And the Palisades and Moorpark and Summerland

Winters in SoCal can not be beat.

May I ask which neighborhood that is? I'm in San Jose CA.

Quote from Dr. Zhivodka:

I just went to get a GYRO down the street. No one this planet or the next can claim the type hotties that live and walk in this neighborhood.

It's worth the extra marginal tax.

Pita Kitchen?

Quote from Dr. Zhivodka:

A Philly Main Line friend of mine once said if you have tax problems...then make more money.

Smartest words ever uttered.

Meanwhile someone just as smart, talented and hard-working is compounding at a far higher annual rate of return because he lives in a low-tax jurisdiction. He or she can then invest the capital gained by those higher lifetime returns into various productive enterprise. Higher tax leaves those potential projects stillborn, DOA, and thus the people who would have done satisfying and useful work on them as employees are also denied opportunity. Now multiply that effect across the whole of productive society. What are you going to do about that?

Exploitation and oppression does not cease to have an effect just because by working harder or better you can still have a relatively decent standard of living or achievement. Society as a whole cannot magically conjure extra productive effort out of thin air, even if you like to imagine yourself a special individual who can.

Recently Arnie has been advertising Cali here in Europe !

We would just love to send all our wackoes, liberals, dropouts, Charlie Manson wannabees etc etc.

Matter of fact ...yes. They make a pretty good plate. :D

Yum...only once a week at most for me...too much food...

Quattro Stagioni pizza at Spumoni is great...
Koraku house special Ramen soup is amazing...

Quote from new$:

I miss: Going to sleep to the rhythms of the Dana Point fog buoy on a foggy night.
Going for a morning walk around Newport Beach Harbor.
The stark beauty of the Channel Islands from Montecito the morning after a front
has cleared the view.
Some of the best waterfront restruants in the world.
The youth, money and freedom I had when I moved there in the late 70’s.

I don’t miss: the traffic.
The wasting of areas that were once middle class.
The fact that the majority in Los Angeles was not born in the US and could
care less what its constitution, laws or traditions are.
It’s the largest market in the US without an NFL team, but the Mexican
National Soccer team will draw 100,000.
The exodus since the 1990’s of some of the nicest people in the world.

:(
I echo your sentiments exactly.

Born and raised here, so I suppose I don't really know any better........but I do kinda like the fact that from I live I can surf in the morning at a world class break, and be on some world clsss slopes by lunch....while my home remains in the warm sunshine and my kid is outside playing.

i guess i'm one of the lucky ones because i bought my house in the 90s, and the value is still a little more then 2x what i paid. there are 10 zip codes in Nor Cal that actually gained (slight) or remained flat in the last 3 months.

my wife tried to get me to move back east years ago to be near her family....i'm glad we never did.

We live in Sacramento.

While I don't question your CNN study, I can tell you California is on the brink because you have 'entitlement babies' and 'providers'.

'Providers' USED to far outnumber the 'Entitlement Babies'. However, when you continually have as many social programs as California, and continue to tax the shit out of the 'Providers', pretty soon they either leave, or become 'Enititlement Babies' themselves.

This can not be disputed. It is happening.

If you honestly think this state is headed for brighter times, then gimme some of what yer smokin', cuz it is some good shit my man.

While you point to the OBVIOUS in regards to social entitlements, what you fail to touch upon is the amount of the State Budget that is untouchable, and has to do with state and local government employee PENSIONS!!!

For example, safety personnel can now retire with 90% or more of their highest salaries at age 50.

Think GM and Ford, but on the level of the world's 8th largest Economy.
