Ewj: elliott wave

The OIH and Energy Sector (coal stocks, nat-gas, etc.) looks real tired here... Crude looks pretty "toppy" today and not all that good on the DAILY charts now.

Could this be the beginning of a turn DOWN?

Mu,

Thanks for this chart. It throws up a fresh prespective. :)

On the ESU9, there seems to be three possible scenarios forming - blue, red or green. All seems to point to some more upward move for a little while.... :)

Irene just does not want to say goodnite! :D

buying the dips and selling (shorting) the rips seems to be the winning trade during these low volume affairs like today.

The short-covering "orgy" in BTU this morning up to 35.27 was classic!
:D

The easy way to do a count is to identify the low and the high in the segment.
Divide the segment into two parts and then three parts.
If we see a low in the middle and two highs in the two parts with nice 5-waves, then the segment is a three.
If we see two highs near the 1/3 and 2/3 lines each with a preceding 5-waves, then the segment is a five.
For the high to low segment we look for a high in the middle and two lows near the 1/3 and 2/3 line.

Another method is to draw a line connect the first high (or low) and the last high (or low) and see if the high (or low) in the middle touches the line or not.
If yes it it a 5-waves. If not it is a 3-waves.

Important thing to remember is "the third wave must not be the shortest wave in a 5-waves" .

I have 3 alternative counts for the 2000 - 2007 segment. At least 2 are wrong and the last one may be wrong too.
The first alternative is the most bullish. Cycle Wave V)III ended on March 12th, 2003, and Intermediate Wave V)V1]3) has just ended on July 19th, 2007. After Intermediate Wave V)V1]4) ends above 11,926.79, Primary Wave V)V1]5) may rise to 16,800. This alternative count will be invalidated when Dow falls below 10,794.95.

The second alternative is a Cycle Wave V)IV running correction. Primary Wave V)IVc] may ended around Dow 10K. This alternative will be invalidate when Dow rises above 14,121.04 or drops below 7,181.47.
The third alternative count is the most bearish. Cycle Wave V)IV is an irregular correction which should end below 7,181.47. This count will be invalidate when Dow rises above 14,121.04 or drops below 1,001.11, or Cycle Wave V)IV ends much above 7,181.47.

.... i'll stick with the 5 .... as it is much much clearer and obvious count to me.....

.... i sure wish you would use your trading platform to post charts from
.... every time you post a chart... i can't make out your levels because the chart is flattened.....squashed if you will...
.... posting a chart from YAHOO ?
.... why ?
...doesn't your trading platform provide you with better charting capabilities than yahoo does ?

.... i use prophet charts as well but it is crap compared to my normal charting for clarity

thanks again
