Ewj: elliott wave

Quote from mu200411:

blnbr,
Lower low = sell signal.
Higher high = buy signal.

Thanks Mu. I was just trying to compare my conventional TA with your sell signals.

There are two alternatives for the Bull count.
First count:
Wave 4)b had ended and we are in Wave 4)c.1:3i.
Wave 4)b ended at Wave 4)a.4 as it should but took too short time.
Second count:
Wave 4)b.a is a five or a double zigzag and we are going DOWN as Wave 4)b.c.
Note 1:
We expected a measure move DOWN for Wave 4)b.a:5 if there was a lower low than Wave 4)b.a:3, i.e., a Sell Signal. But this didn't happen.
Note 2: 12-31-08 02:22 AM
Next higher high, i.e., a Buy signal, favors Wave 4)c.1:3iii count.
Next lower low, i.e., a Sell signal, favors Wave 4)b.c count.

Putting a strong bid under the energy sector, commodity stocks, coal, drillers, etc.

Stock market often rises in the middle of a recession. If history is a guide, we might have seen the bottom of SPX, given that the current recession won't last more than 2 years (the current recession started from Dec.2007, already longer than average).

Here's a related chart
