He thought that telling off the minimum wage worker at the drive through was such an awesome idea he made a youtube video of himself berating the chick who knew nothing about what was going on, it went Viral, and Not only did he lose his job, He is now living on food stamps and cant find a job anywhere, its nice to see when karma catches up too self righteous d-bags like this guy, wish it happened more often.

A former self-made CFO who was fired for uploading an anti-Chick-fil-A video in which he berated an employee for the company’s public stance on its opposition to gay marriage now lives on food stamps, and claims nobody will hire him.

Adam Smith was making $200,000 per year as the CFO of a medical device manufacturer. Hedrew scrutiny when he uploaded a video to YouTube in 2012 showing him berating a Chick-fil-A employee in the drive-through line.

The next day, upon arriving at work, he was asked to turn in his resignation. The company was also receiving bomb threats. Smith, along with his wife and four children, was forced to sell their Tuscon, Arizona home and move into an RV. Smith lost not only his six-figure salary, but $1 million in stock options.

Smith told ABC’s 20/20 that he doesn’t regret taking a stand, but said he does regret how he talked to the Chick-fil-A employee, Rachel Elizabeth, who talked to Fox shortly after the original incident in August 2012.

After just two weeks on the job at a different company, he was again fired after his boss said he should have told them about the Chick-fil-A video. He tried showing the video at future job interviews to “get it out in the open,” but was repeatedly rejected.

I agree on karma, but one should be able to apologize and be forgiven. The punishment (having him and his wife and four kids have their lives completely ruined) because he was verbally abusive to an worker at C-f-A is not an equal punishment for the crime.

It's unfortunate that we have become a society where image is so important. Say something politically incorrect and get fired. Heck, look at Paula Dean. She said the N word 20 years ago and lost a lot because of it.

OTOH, this asshat is part of the problem. I suspect that Smith would be very happy to see the Chick Fil A CEO stripped of all his money and job because of his anti-gay marriage belief. In other words, this guy is exactly the sort of person that causes people to get fired for saying something stupid. He's the one creating this society where a bad video will put you in the bread lines. So I am glad he's been able to enjoy the fruits of his Brave New World.

Thats exactly the way that I look at it, This guy thinks that Chick Fil A should have to close its doors because they dont agree with him politically, so its poetic justice when he ends up getting blacklisted for trying to do it too someone else.

If the guy had simply said or did something stupid, id also say that he should be forgiven, but people like this are the most intolerant people out there, so im happy to see he got whats comnig too him.

People should be able to atone for their errors. Especially if the error was just opening one's big fat mouth. No one was injured, even the person who was verbally abused forgave the incident.

I had an interview for a CFO job 8 or so months back and I had the opportunity to speak with the company's owner. I asked him what his involvement on social media was, and he replied "After consulting with HR and my leadership team, we figured it was good for me to remain off social media. It would be a real shame for 150 characters I post to be misinterpreted and ruin the good will it took our company 50 years to cultivate."

Very smart.

I hate to think that my child will grow up in a world where everything posted on the internet, no matter how insignificant will come under scrutiny one day. Thinking about how you behaved in college or high school - and considering what that would have been like if you had a cell phone to "selfie" it or tweet it or put it on facebook - would you be ashamed possibly at some of the stuff? I know I probably would have.

I realize I'm going to be at odds with my conservative brethren on this. I don't try to act or do things based on what liberals do and don't do. I try to do them based on what I believe to be fair and honorable. I said try. I don't always succeed, much to my dismay.

But in this case, the punishment doesn't fit the crime, that's all I'm saying. Don't confuse my message to say that Paula Dean wasn't treated unfairly - she was. But if conservatives are going to hold themselves to the higher standards they profess to be (and that I believe they are) then they can't do things just because liberals do it. I'd expect liberals to be intolerant despite professing themselves to be open to all views. They're hypocrites. However, conservatives that profess deep and thorough belief in the Constitution - particularly in Freedom of Speech - shouldn't cheer when someone is persecuted for saying something dumb - no matter whether that "said something" is pro or con something they believe in. They need to support the principle.

And condemning this guy to a life of poverty because of a few minutes of recorded video is, in my opinion, against the idea of Freedom of Speech and certainly a penalty far in excess of the crime.

If this were a conservative who lost his job protesting against gay marriage, you'd probably see companies come out and offer the guy a job or help. Liberals turn on their own in a flash.

I suspect there is much more to this than just the guy losing his job over a video. The fact is that liberals are far more willing to assist one of their own than conservatives are. Just a fact of life. If you become toxic over some un-PC remark, establishment conservatives and big business types will drop you like a bad habit. The media will excoriate them if they don't.
