Every down January since 1950 was followed by a bear market

Nice try, 2018 was not quite 20%. So not a bear market. Not even for 1 day.

Hate to bust your bubble but it was a 1 day bear market

The DOW, S&P and Nasdaq and Russell all should be down over 20% at the same time, like 2008 and 2002 for full confirmation of a bear market. That will likey happen in the next few years. You guys are all dreaming if you think it wont.
This Bull market is old and might continue to go up for another year or two but the crash is going to happen, it always does.

Standard Putin strategy is to support both at the same time to achieve the objective of internal division. It's also being applied in the country I live in (Sweden) where both far right and left groups have revenue streams traced to people close to Putin.
There was never "internal division" in Sweden before that?

Implying what? I'm not claiming the Russian policy of sponsoring extremists and trolling in social media is effective or having measures of how shifts in sentiment can be attributed to this.

Implying that there is a difference between secretly giving money to both parties to hedge your bets and openly spreading fake news in order to influence election in favor of one candidate.

So here is monthly SPX chart for 2010 clearly showing Jan as a down month but with a much higher close at year end. Yes it moved sideways for a time but a nice roughly 13% return nonetheless in the end. What am I missing?

Sounds like you are missing not much @ all;
88%, JAN accuracy, last time I looked. 10% corrections are much more common than a bear[-20%].....................................................................................................................
