European Socialism versus Keynesian Economics

Quote from piezoe:

I'm guessing that you mean by that the U.S. doesn't practice the other half, where in boom times we are suppose to either cut spending or raise taxes. If that is the case, I would have to agree with you: we don't follow Keynes, we follow the part we like and reject the part we don't. Unfortunately the part we reject is needed to make it work as intended.

I don't support Keynesian Economics but picking pieces of it is probably a lot less effective. The thing is.. Raising taxes is political suicide.

The "likely voter" polls say otherwise :D

Quote from McFadden5252:

The Government has been applying Keynesian intervention now for decades.

Nope.

Keynesian "intervention" requires a very important piece that the US has failed to do for a very very long time.

What is that important piece? The raising taxes or cutting spending in boom time?

In his dying days, he laughed at people who beleived the things he wrote when he was young, and not only laughed at them, but like any self respecting genious, despised them.

What was that the man said? Oh yeah, it's all relative.

I know for me personally, when I was 27 I was damn near the worlds most foremost expert on love, sex, and marriage. Now I'm not too sure, but I sure despise people my age who still believe what I did.
