EUR/CAD trade ( Short ) .... Margin Call on account this morning

Wondering if someone can help shed some light on the BIG upward move that occurred on the EUR/CAD this morning ( Dec. 3 ) ?

I have been scaling in and have been short the EUR/CAD for almost 1 month now , and I wake up this morning and see that my positions have all been Flattened and look to see a BIG Green Candle on EUR/CAD

Thank you for any insight someone can share

Sorry, but if you were not aware of the ECB meeting today than I suggest you stop trading immediately to ensure you do not lose any more money going forward...

Man, you gotta start paying attention! Thursday 12/3 has been on everybody's calendar that trades eur for a long time.

otherwise, I like that short eur.cad, but unfortunately my current system only allows me to trade it from the long side.

in case you haven't noticed, rates are the lifeblood of fx, and any rate decision moves markets.

of course, you never know how much is priced in beforehand, so the current price is always a bet on future rates, but just like in sports betting, there are always upsets.

otherwise a bet on short eur.cad is a bet on long oil

the whole thing is kind of funny, "Either invest your money or we will steal it from you!"

if I can lose 2% per year loaning money to you, that's better than losing x%/year investing it

If you want me to invest money, why don't you start by giving up a little bit of your cut in the form of taxes and regulations and all the other palm greasing scams you have going on in the name of "Government"?
 
the hell with my "system" I'm short a miniscule amount from 4599. This has just gotten out of hand. I'm small enough I can sell some more if they continue this insanity. What would you rather own, a barrel of oil or a barrel of euros?

Well the barrel of oil is like being short a barrel of euros in some ways, many don't realize the impact of oil being priced in dollars has on the world economy and the impact of the dollar's value on the price of oil.

there aren't enough euros in the world to even cover the oil trade
 
I definitely need to understand better and know which of the Rate announcements ( such as the ECB meeting yesterday ) , to keep an eye on , and tighten my stops ad or close out of a position all together when one of this reports is due to come out .

Does each Currency have it's own MAJOR Rate announcement , and are the announcements called " The same thing " independent on which currency Pair the announcement is made for ..... such as ..... is the Rate announcement for the JPY called the same thing as it is for the AUD , etc. ?

Thanks again for the wake up call, as I will now make sure and pay attention to these Rate announcements

Side note:
I did see that Forex.com has an Economic Calendar, that gives " Weight " to different Economic reports .... from Low to High
Time I start paying attention :)
