Yeah I just discovered that if I swirl my lavalamp for a few seconds, the plasma-like oil blobs turn into thousands of little mini-blobbies, floating around and shining with the light magnificently.

After an hour or so, the little blobbie-bubbles start turning into bigger blobs again. It's amazing, you can do that all day long if you got nothing else to do.

Otherwise, I'm gonna go for a drive in my sports car now, to see some whales (they're currently mating here, mate), and then maybe go for a surf. Maybe not. I guess I should keep you updated.

I should mention around 1am I'll probably take a luncheon. Then, maybe around 7pm I will have some dinner. Would you like to know when I go to the toilet to have a really big crap? RS7 doesn't write about his toilet habits, but even Marty Schwartz does. Twice. Never mind.

Stop bickering about each other folks, and get onto something intelligent and more productive, seriously!

Uh yeah?

"... his list is the only one that counts." - Your lack of diplomacy here makes me wonder why he included you in his list. Few in that list have made any truly valuable contributions to trading I think. Except for surf no hedge fund managers with good stuff to say or people with extraordinary ideas or methods.

Those people he mentioned which are worth reading are for entertainment or interesting manifestations of wisdom (darkhorse). Marketsurfer made it into my list, though, and I think he's gonna be the next great fund manager. When I open my fund, I think I'll take quite a few of surf's wisdoms to heart.

Otherwise, if it comes to pure trading knowledge - the list is rather poor or let's say a little personally biased, too. I think a lot of people are guided too much by their personal appreciation when they name who they like. Not all of those I mentioned in my list are people I like or agree with! I still listen to them and value their opinion, though.

The other way 'round, for example, some people send me PM's saying they don't like me, but greatly appreciated post XYZ. It happens all the time. Those kind of comments tell me "Uh-huh - this is a smart person." - Because I know that person has succeeded in splitting subjectivity from objectivity.

Being able to make clear distinctions between objectivity (fact, value) and subjectivity (bias, notion & emotion) is the key to excellence. We can't please everybody or be liked by everybody. But we can learn a lot from almost anybody.

But I bet for any trader who believes that prices always retrace and fill, it will be one of his 10 worst days!

Thats the kind of 'intelligence' I respect when it comes to trading - the kind thats earned from a lot of years of experience...

OK you're right and maybe I wasn't very correct / clear here. I have already come to know that Pabst is quite an honourable member, despite his sometimes immature / discrediting / aggressive statements. I will have a look at his post history soon to see what he's been writing about, in terms of trading value.

Myself, I've actually been watching this place for a few years now - And you're right - I've only been referring to members that are current or recent 'best contributors'. I should have said "As of Mid-2003" or so in my list. There are a few older members that come to my head when I think about "what was". The face of ET has changed a little over the last year or two I must say. Myself, I decided to only actively join once I started to trade actively myself - and so I did. I am happy about a lot of great friends / traders I have found on here and thankful for the occassional true gem found after patient and persistent mining. This thread could end up bringing us great value by giving us a guide as to who to read, and a diligent effort to summarize those would be great, rather than diminishing others, as happened here in Pabst's example ("... his list is the only one that counts"). That's all I was getting at.

This is one of the most excellent posts I've ever read. Amazing that it came from Pabst. Yes, I agree in many points with this. I didn't realize that there were people that thought the same way about countertrend scalping. The sentence regarding add-on scaling into perceived maximum range expansion on a garbage trade is music in my ears. This is why I love scalping - It doesn't work in any other kind of trading - i.e. the risk is too high. Fantastic post. Excuse my ignorance here - Of course I haven't read every post on this board, I was just trying to sum up a few of the best.
