ET Reception at Chicago Traders Expo

1. Which one is Sioux?

2. Expo people nuts for scheduling Las Vegas during Triple Witch week (and near holidays) and Florida in June/July.

3. Thank you Baron, super event. nice to mingle.

4. Availability of optional name tags earlier in event would have been more fun - you explained how some identities might provoke some inappropriate acts (and rightfully so in some cases).

5. At ET event, guy in front of me at bartender asked what the beers cost. Bartender said they were free. The guy said "Then I'll take 2 cases of Heineken", and before bartender blinked, I blurted out "BALANCE"! Old floor instinct.

Thanks again.

I think it is done on purpose. Think about the typical retail trader that goes to these things, looking for classes etc.

In my experience, [floor] traders and some arb specialists love ex week, and retail "traders" hate it. Since most traders in my experience can't afford to take off or they don't eat, it makes sense that they cater to the would be trader/Investor/hobbyist.

This is just a theory...

The Traders Expo people have told me several times that they actually have very little control over the dates and hotels for these events, and in a lot of cases, they just take whatever they can get. Evidently, the major hotels in these big cities stay booked up with trade shows (often years in advance), so getting an adequate facility to host the Traders Expo is a major challenge. For example, the Mandalay Bay hotel in Vegas was available last year in November, but it wasn't available on virtually any dates this time around, which is why the show had to move to the Paris hotel and the date is in December this time around.

Baron, think about what you are saying. If Traders Expo doesn't control the date and hotel, who does? It's all about money. They picked Las Vegas in mid-December, triple witch week, because no other convention wants to go there. Florida in late June? No offense meant to et'ers in So Florida, but the weather there at that time can be unbearable.

I think most Traders expo participants could care less which hotel the event is in - they're there to learn and pick up a few things (they have penicillin for some things found in Las Vegas) they didn't know. Pick a better date, there are hotels available. Spend some money. When no one shows at these next 2 events and the sponsors pull out, don't blame us.

I think Orlando would make a much better destination because people know there's plenty of entertainment and other fun stuff to do aside from the expo, which is obviously why the Vegas show did so well last year.

Plus, it would be more convenient for a certain web site operator! :D

... From the vendors I spoke to, they said that this year's Chicago expo turnout was not as good as last years.
However, we experienced the opposite effect for our event.
Our Chicago event was much bigger than last year.

Vegas and NYC are both crushing Chicago in terms of attendance though...

Somebody told me they might move it to Ft. Lauderdale...
Intershow's updated Events Calendar: Ft. Lauderdale replaces Chicago as the Traders Expo summer setting.

The Traders Expo • Ft. Lauderdale
June 21 – 24, 2006
Greater Fort Lauderdale Broward County Convention Center
Ft. Lauderdale, FL

If it couldn't be Orlando, Baron, at least the Githlers put the newest Expo on the somewhat cooler, Atlantic side.

Since the wildly successful Elite Trader Friday night reception was arguably the best-attended Chicago Expo event,
and acclaimed by trader guests as the most fun, Intershow would be well advised to make it a feature attraction

... as a Florida favorite - booze, traders mixing with traders & exhibitorists, ET Baby Dolls & "former" Bodybuilder T's!

Remember, we're talking about the Traders Expo. These are the braniacs who decided to have the NYC show in FEBRUARY! and Anaheim in August. That should have been switched a LONG time ago!

A.B. Watley had the hottest sales/skanks at The NY Expo, they got reprimanded for their attire. Meanwhile it was the only reason to even stop at the booth.
