"In New York, the nonprofit Philoctetes Center for the Multidisciplinary Study of the Imagination lost all of its funding, its co-director Francis Levy told Reuters. The group, which focuses on fostering innovation, may shut."

It has been / is being reported from many other sources as well.

I just discovered these guys and they're on the way out?

What ever happened to diversifying your investments?????

Ok, so If you want to be all in Govt paper, I can't be critical of that, but all your money with ONE SHYSTER?

Good thing all these people paid big money for College educations, IMAGINE HOW F$%^ING DUMB THEY WOULD HAVE BEEN WITHOUT THAT!!!!!!!!!

Interesting quote from Madoff in that video that was posted:

"I’m very close with the regulators so I’m not trying to say that what they do is bad. As a matter of fact, my niece just married one."

Maybe that's connected with this news report from Bloomberg?

"U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission Chairman Christopher Cox said the agency failed to act for almost a decade on “credible and specific allegations” of wrongdoing by Bernard Madoff, who authorities say bilked investors of as much as $50 billion.

Allegations dating back until at least 1999 “were repeatedly brought to the attention of SEC staff, but were never recommended to the commission for action,” Cox, 56, said in a statement yesterday. He announced an internal probe to review the “deeply troubling” revelations.

perhaps the senate oversight committee did not want Madoff investigated....

I have a theory, which may be way off the mark, but here it is....Madoff may have subverted some or all of his money to the Mossada.....by seeming to bilk many of the jewish causes and clients, he will be able to garner sympathy for them...victims yet again (its early in the a.m.....i don't sleep all that well, and i come up with this stuff)

wonder what we don't know...and yes, Ken Lay is probably in the witness protection programme in some sort or another....which will probably happen to Madoff:confused:

Quote from trademonster:

I've heard that SEC is going to shut down Madoff financial and all of their hedge funds for SEC violations. Can anyone confirm this?

Its obvious, guys.

If someone heard the SEC was investigating an epic fraud - that later turned out to be true - you can be 99% sure the SEC was investigating.

Corruption abounds. The 9 Trillion bailout compared to the 2 trillion underlying toxic paper is proof of that.

Do some math.

Shit doesn't add up. Does it?

What's interesting is the fact that seemingly intelligent people were clamoring to throw BILLIONS at this guy, because he faked a steady 10% return.

I feel like, as an independent trader, I could make 10% APR in my sleep. Hell, many years you get 3- 5% or whatever just from unused funds.

Yeah, I know it would be harder if I was trading billions. I think many traders fail because they think more along the lines of 10% a month. Don't you guys think, that if you shot for a little less than 1% a month, you could do it year in and year out? With very little chance of a blowout?

It doesn't. The SEC is now investigating a lawyer who looked into the Madoff case - a lawyer who married Maddoff's niece! Failed to recuse himself of this investigation of course.

Is it bribery when you marry into a Billionaire's family that you're investigating? Well it is an SEC violation.

Cox apologized for the Madoff incident but he can do better.

Multidisciplinary Study of the Imagination???????????

C'mon, does that sound like a front for something more covert or what?

Was the Bush administration using illegally obtained information to take down political enemies? Oh, I think it's a safe bet. And do you suppose they were deliberately trying to keep Spitzer from exposing extensive Wall St. fraud?

What do you think?

you can bet on it the bush cabal was providing cover to made-off.

The cabal has proven capable to do anything humanly possible to destroy the US from inside. Anything.
