ET gone to the dogs

It seems to me that the worst thing to have, would be to have a bunch of folks doing nothing. If you have a lot of inexperienced folks making lots of mistakes, then that actually provides information, especially if they talk or gripe about it. As Seinfeld once said ... “If everything you do is wrong….then the opposite would be right.”

Hmm, I don't get a lot of "likes" either :(. Perhaps too many posts in the Politics forum ?

ET is a melting pot of different characters, here visiting for a vast number of reasons.
We are all going to die one day, we came with nothing, we go with nothing, but it would be good to think the majority felt they would like to leave earth having contributed something which was helpful to others.
Even the act of scolding someone can be construed as positive if it has the effect of getting an annoying git to pull their head in a tad from mindlessly polluting ET with garbage.

I find newer traders won't do the work, or they won't post their charts like they discovered an ATM after a few years, LOL...so if you want help-post charts and more experienced traders will take a look and help with how to correct or improve. But to come here and ask for books or fastest indicators is waste of time as they didn't use "search" in upper right.

I have learned more from this forum than most of the books I have read in my life of trading, but it takes time to read posts. At least 7-8 hours a week I spend going into older posts and reading them.

Yep, the current (newish) poster who is poluting ET with hundreds of questions and posts, imo, is just bloody lazy. Google can be used, even for searching on ET, throw the question on Goog with 'Elitetrader' in the equation and "voila". No need to ask basic TA queries on this board as it will have been discussed a hundred times previously.

lol. good luck.

it's actually a good thing. retail participation is low. the public interest is still low.

other trading sites are about the same. mostly clueless people.

the industry stats don't lie... 1-2% make enough to live on. 95% lose money.. just sheep fed to the Wall Street meat grinder.... and the 1-2% who actually make it find it's impossible to share anything, even if they want to share... because their voice won't be heard among all the noise.

this is a very lonely sport.

It's not that it's not heard; it's more of it won't be understood. Look at how hard those traders tried to educate and/or warn others about the upcoming financial crisis before it happened in that movie "The Big Short" and look how they were treated.

I mainly come here for the socialization aspect. I agree trading is a very lonely sport; it's great to go to a place I can "meet" like-minded people who are doing the same thing as I do and exchange ideas and learning new things. And there is ALWAYS something that you can learn from people no matter their "experience" level. And I don't mind helping people, sharing my experience with people and hopefully they won't make the same mistakes as I made and achieve success faster. We all started as newbies.

We are ALL going to die one day??!!!! ALL??!!! :wtf::wtf::wtf: I thought I am immortal!!! :D You think you would know if ppl talked about your contribution on earth, erected statues in your honour after you have passed on?? Are we going to have an after-life? Because if we do, does it matter what we do now? Cuz we would always have a chance to do better in our after-life...

Much of trading can be taught. Much can't. It's like driving a car. Sure you can learn the rules of the road from a book. But after that.....How can a newbie be taught when not to trade? What a "clean/reliable" trend looks like? Trading is half science, half art. Easy to do when the markets are moving heavy. Hard to do when they're chopping. Good luck in the chop (it can last awhile....). And those big trends? Sometimes you won't be around to catch them....

I trade only spy options, ES & NQ instruments and I rarely accumulate any losing trade these days because I spend most of my time baiting and carrying out my trading plans. During trading hours, I don't like:

a) getting disturbed to go on here chatting with people that I don't know while concentrating on my game plans;

b) giving out incomplete advices since it will do more harm than good. Otherwise, there is no way I give out my secret sauce because I sacrificed many things in my life and suffered for years in order to become a profitable trader.

My main point is why do successful traders have to interact with strangers??? For what purposes??? They don't need to convince or showing off to anybody on here behind a computer screen. Off market hours, there are so many things to do outdoors with money they make. Get my points here???
yes but Bollinger did give away his secret sauce
but i agree trading requires 300% of your focus
