ET Chat

In terms of monetization, I'd also consider tokenizing likes or like ratios or something along those lines.... the same way you can skip the boring "farming" aspects of a video game by just buying "credits" instead. Leveling up should cost something; time or money. It's game development 101 these days.

This forum is not a game. You are thinking inside a box of P2P that does not apply to online forums. There are other trading forums out there that do this, such as "giving a special title" for a certain amount of money.

I'm talking about a monthly subscription to be able to engage with a feature of the site, namely the chat thingy, not to buy
Tchotchkes

Not _exactly_ a game but printing your own tokens that can be converted into something of value is a sort of "holy grail" anyway. It's not easy to pull off but the concept applies IMHO. So :finger: to you @Overnight you lovable gob-shite :p

Fair enough, I don't see a big difference between a virtual "Tchotchke" and a virtual "service".

What are you on about? I am talking about a "subscription" to a feature, not tokens to be received and then redeemed later for rewards. Get off the video-game mindset! Ug!!!

This is not World of WarCraft or EverQuest.

You're entitled to your opinion... just keep in mind those kinds of franchises are pretty big business these days. Last I checked MSFT bought up at least one game studio. And, let's face it... from the myriad of personalities on this site many members are little more than grown children ;)

I am guessing the problem is also that there was never a full-time moderator for the room.

@Baron Could make it a premium service, where users would pay a small fee to be in the chatroom each month. I dunno'...5 bux per month? Just tossing out numbers here.

Whoever start a chat room should be the moderator who has the power to eject and accept participants according to IP address so ejected idiots cannot rejoin under a new alias/username. So that way there is no need for full-time moderators chat rooms. All the responsibility of moderation would be on the chat room organizer/starter. No need to charge for chat rooms, just make sure all the chat rooms display sponsors' ads and it will pay for itself.

That's rich coming from the one who constantly blabbers and posts completely unrelated youtube videos. Would he interesting to find out how many meaningful threads you sullied with your nonsense.

Your input is rich considering you joined this forum less than a year ago and have posted no trades, no journals, and have done nothing but troll @destriero. Unless you wish to admit you are a previously-banned user who changed their nick? Please let us know!
