ET Admins: Is there a correlation between ET traffic and stock market volume?

If you elitetrader.com administrators do a plot of NYSE composite volume, ES volume, or say SPY volume versus unique visitors per day (or page views per day), is there a strong relationship? I'd love to see a plot, if possible.

The threads about declining market volume attribute this to the retail trader to some extent. If the retail trader is losing interest in the stock market, I'd assume his interest in ET would be dropping also. Does this show up in the numbers over the long haul?

Although, I guess it's a crapshoot whether the site administrators would share this information with us not, because if the pattern does show a declining trend in ET usage, then the advertising rates for the web site should theoretically also start to decline.

Some Hedge funds have linquistic programs that crawl social media looking for preponderances of certain words etc to gauge sentiment. Not sure if elite sells its data that way, if not, it should. surf

Is anyone *actually* doing this? I mean, not a <$10MM seed strategy sitting around hoping for a tracking record, but an actual, legit, marketed, fund that actually does this?

I'm really curious - I've never seen an actual one, just tons of rumors.

I thought there is a public web site that lists web site traffic (can't think of the name right now). You could correlate that to the Dow or whatever.

Frankly, I don't think there is an increase in traffic here to correlate to anything significantly.

i'm pretty sure there is direct correlation between retail trading and ET.

Imo, probably the majority of yahoo mb comments are robots to make up for the lack of retail traders.

ET is dying along with trading.

FWIW, I believe this also. I would be willing to bet ET traffic has fallen over the last 10 years.
