eSignal lag on ES

MAESTRO: Thanks for the reply. If he e-mails you back can you also asked your friend if he can also convert ESignal .efs files to Sierra Charts. I am also looking at them.

If anyone else can answer this or has experience with programming indicators in sierra charts a reply would be appreciated. Can you self program indicators in sierra charts like ESignals .efs files?? Thanx !!

LISTEN UP. This is the very same problem I experienced with QCharts years ago:
SOME SERVERS WERE WORKING GREAT,
others lagged badly.
It all has to do with the distribution of the workload and the data.
Apparently, ESignal has not figured out how to optimize the load by server-switching.
That was the only solution with QCharts...however, it was an independent programmer who figured out how to do it...QCharts did not have the smarts to do it themselves.
Obviously, I no longer use QCharts.
 
Personally I use IB's feed, along with DTN Market Access for historical data, with InvestorRT for charting. It works pretty well for my purposes and is Mac friendly.

That said, I definately think there is a market out there for a single, reliable solution with a low price point, something around the $15/month range all inclusive for emini data/charting at least (excluding DOM as you aren't allowed to aggregate DOM data from CME without the typical reseller agreement). I've given a bit of thought into creating such a product personally, but it's quite a bit of effort. From the technical side I could create it myself as I come from a real-time, high availability software development and systems team management background as well as have some video game programming experience. Some of the same techniques in video game 2D graphic rendering can be applied to charting to produce amazingly smooth, responsive charts that barely use CPU power. It honestly amazes me the marketplace for trading feeds and charting hasn't met this need yet, the building block solutions have been out there for quite a while.
 
The most telling thing here is that Chuck and the others are sitting there reading every post in this thread and they won't even post a denial. I'm not going to bother looking through every post but I'm pretty sure there has been no response from eSignal, right?

Can you imagine running a business this way? You find out that large numbers of your customers are either actively participating in a discussion about you, or at the very least are following an active discussion about you, a discussion in which your service is being slagged, and you just sit there doing nothing.

IDC (Interactive Data Corp., the parent of eSignal) must have a lot of non-retail business.

Well Ptunic, I REALLY WISH YOU WOULD ! Sign me up Dude !
But make sure that X Y axis works as smoothly as eSig.
You can move that chart all around with that little ole mouse on eSig.
And why not ?
Everything else is a CLUNKER to use in comparison.

Now that you know what I want...... :)

Did anyone mention that there was a problem w/ lagging data with all globex products today? specifically this after noon starting around 3ish eastern. I trade eurodollars through a direct line to the merc and there was definite freezes / lags which does not ever happen. Called the merc and they said they were having an issue.

Don't know if this was affecting you guys but thought I'd mention.

Knock on wood, I feel like I'm one of the few who's not having this slew of issues. I've been on 8 & never even considered upgrading to 10 until I heard a lot of rave reviews. No problems w/ eSig but have fairly common lags like you are describing with ToS the last few weeks. I've heard so many good things about Ninja on this board that I decided to go w/ another broker that uses them. This way I can take my time learning all the details with Ninja charts that I can do in my sleep after years w/ eSig. While I'm learning, I'll use Ninja for order entry but it'll also be there as a backup charting application if eSig starts going nightmare on me. In addition, if I want to switch brokers, I can most-likely use NT on the next one ...

Had those issues back then also & had to continually play server roulette. Finally got sick of the crap & went to eSig .... apparently from the frying pan into the fire....

It's a crying shame that they won't put some of that money from their fees into upgrading their product (& not just creating bloatware like msft) ...
