According to the eSignal email:Quote from FredBloggs:
but why an additional admin fee?
i have asked esignal why they charge a premium admin fee for futures data and they could never give a valid reason. they just stated 'extra admin costs with futures data' ( i think it was chuck from e-signal who posts here who said that
nobody else charges an admin fee
what extra costs are there in supplying futures prices v stock prices? (other than exchange fees - set by the exchange)
Total BS. Time for me to make the "difficult decision" to find a new data vendor. We made the difficult decision to charge the administrative fee so as to continue providing fast, reliable, ever-increasing volumes of data and superior customer service. It covers costs for billing, collecting, reporting and remitting the futures exchanges' fees.

Most likely esignal charging administrative fee because they are losing more and more customers. As they lose more customers, they need to charge more to make up for it.

spike - i believe the admin cost is a bit more than $3. its significantly more last time i looked. i would go to their website again to look - but i dont want to get any of their spyware that always lands on my pc after i go to their site.
whether the admin fee is $3 or $50, the point is irrelevant. money is money, and no other provider charges this - not even the ones who do stocks and futures like esignal.
i think winter also proves this point very well.
maybe e-signal should change their name to f-signal. no prizes for guessing what the f stands for.
