esignal account - proof of id requested

hello, i recently purchased the esignal service. I'm italian and they wrote me today to provide them a copy of my id. I was wondering why, they say is for compliance and not to match my credit card. and that is a normal procedure even for us customers.

It sound strange to me, is not a bank account, why my id?

Yes. They want to make sure you are the person paying. What if I take your credit card to pay for the service?

Because they are a data vendor and they are getting their data from the exchanges, they must comply with certain rules and regulations when distributing this data.

That said, why wouldn't you give your id? They're big and well-known, so I wouldn't distrust them.

Yes, but it's for info delivery service right? He doesn't deposit any cash with them to trade... If I get an online newspaper subscription, do I also have to provide id?
