I think for an account with a smaller balance you are doing just fine Jboyd. HOWEVER you are letting some trades get away from you. Your account would now be arount 4400.00 if you didn't allow these loose stops or whatever. I trade the es with a stop of seven ticks (87.50) special situations eleven tiks (137.50) and the nq's seven ticks (70.00) special situations eleven ticks (110.00). You will soon be Crippled if you allow these trades to get away from you, play them tighter. You can always reenter and on a lot of occasions notice the relief you feel when you are out and it cascades another Five Handles away from your stop. Staying at the Table, is the name of the game, not ending up on the rail.
 
Nice that your posting this info. Question I have is you mention in your opening post that you use Omnitrader as a part of your decision making. How often is the trades the result of a signal being giving by Omnitrader versus just general gut feel for the trade? My reason for asking is I haven't found to many folks that are happy overall with Omnitrader for stock trading. Have you been please with Omnitrader prediction for emini's? I subscribe to Ed Downs signalwatch emails and the guy is usually rights and I would like to determine if his software for intraday trading is equally as good.

Any insight to the product would be great. Thanks again for you posts.

I never trade on a signal from OMNITRADER alone. All "OT" really does is flag major T/A signals for you. At least that's all I use it for.

I watch my charts and when it feels right I use OT for a confirmation.

By the way, I use the following candle charts in eSignal:

1-minute day chart of ES with BOL BANDS and VOLUME.

1-minute zoomed view of ES with BOL BANDS and MACD.

5-minute day chart of ES with BOL BANDS and MACD.

I use these in locked-time frame bar charts:

1-minute ES
1-minute TICK
1-minute DOW
1-Minute NQ
And lastly a time and sales window.
 
I am testing OT real time, and watching to see if their adaptive reasoning logic improved. My impression, they generate less false signals but for tradeable signals I haven't seen any.
 
hello jboy: your postings are informative. when i saw the
amounts of P/L relative to your size first and the P/L distribution,
i was already sure you use a MACD or moving
avg (delayed trend following) styled system.
here is an important advice: when you start noticing that
losses surpass gains multiple times sequentially, leave the
system alone. "whipping" in volatile non-trending mkts would
disrupt your account which i would regret.

Thanks FX... I would consider manually <b> bolding </b> all of the short trades if you all think it would be helpful. But I don't want to waste the time if it's not necessary.
