Mass psychology for one. I know the divergence in VIX was mentioned as well. A few indicators also showed divergence. So all this combined with lower volume this week and pending santa claus rally caused a massive short squeeze.

I did see this coming and actually got burned trying to trade a bottom long the last 2 days. Did not recoup my losses but today certainly helped ease the pain trading long only premkt and throughout the day. I also sold a weekly 1200 put yesterday right before we broke 1200 late in the day. Hopefully it expires worthless.
