If I had taken profit at +2 points for every trade I was in today, I'd have +4 to +6 points on the day.. instead, down about -4 points, I keep getting chopped up. This non-directional bullshit is difficult.

I don't know but let me guess about it. Someone is either testing a new algo in the hft space and its going wrong in its risk management so its selling incredibly fast at 4pm. Remember infineon CL algo gone bonkers.

Other than that the price action says that it has to do with some kind of imbalance. Could be anything - stock/index imbalance, imbalance in an options book, basically some kind of fcuked up risk imbalance.

Final guess - it is some kind of manipulation again by some algo. Could be some discretionary trader as well.
guess, but i thinks its bots and etf traders gettting flat on imbalance at end of day

Its not a bad analysis at all. Why not go back and look at all your trades in the last 3 months (on first attempt - make it simple, look at all of them together, without breaking them down for different setups)....and see at what point putting profit target would have maximized your gains. Then make profit target a function of ATR. and then customized profit targets for different setups - this step would be hardest as you will have to go back and identify which setup you were trading 2 months back. Maybe good idea to do this step in real time.

Repeat it for your stoploss points also.

Will help a lot.

This is the rally I was looking for and shaken out of. That's 3 times today I was stopped out 1-2 ticks before a substantial move in my direction. This is a game of precision and I blew it big time today trying to be too creative.

Since your primary tool is profile, it is difficult to apply on a day like this.

Great trade. Took most off at 84

thats the exact reason i took most off :)

I was debating reversing to long at 83 but only used it as exit point. no worries.
